Department: Environment Reports To: Air Quality Program Manager


SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Air Quality Program Manager, the Air Quality Technician


is responsible for collaborating with grant sub awardee for the collection, analysis and dissemination of ambient air data in Akwesasne.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:


Promote community engagement and involvement


Low cost sensor purchases and assembly


Identify locations within Akwesasne that can be sites for the sensor deployment


Maintain sensor sites


Tasks related to data quality assurance and quality control


Data analysis for source determination, pollution trends and benchmarking air quality metrics


Determination and display of outliers and trends, statistical analysis, control charting, and data visualization


Report writing


  • Travel may be required with this position.

Other related duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Technical writing skills are essential to this position along with a strong background in data analysis and the management of large data sets. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/ GED with 2 years relevant experience or a two (2) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering which includes some environmental experience.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to communicate technical information effectively orally and in writing. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, and experience with varying databases as well as software. Work independently and as a part of a team.


Must be at least 18 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driver abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.


Must pass a drug test and criminal background check prior to employment.
