SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Student Enhancement Project Coordinator, the Akwesasne Research Center for Health (ARCH) Resident Assistant is responsible for chaperoning and guiding ARCH summer internship students from the Saint Regis Mohawk Research Scholars Program: High School Summer Research Internship program. The SRMT Research Scholars Program engages high school youth in a series of learning opportunities focused on understanding and participating in biomedical and health research. Initiatives include interactive research internships to introduce community health, science, and research through Indigenous knowledge, western science, and virtual speakers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:


  • Must be able to drive a 12-passenger van, and willing to complete any training associated with this responsibility.
  • Assist and provide support to summer internship residents during their stay in the residence hall.
  • Enforce university and residence hall rules and regulations
  • Work as part of the team to make sure that students are on schedule for internship activities.
  • Establish a working relationship with all youth and young adult participants.
  • Participate in and co-facilitate student activities, including travel to meetings and summer internship programs.
  • Be available to travel to Buffalo, NY and stay on a college campus from June 24 to August 11.
  • Other related job duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Resident Assistants will act as chaperones/advisors during summer internship program to 10-15 students.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Current enrollment and good standing in bachelor’s or graduate degree program. Experience living on-campus housing. Working knowledge of university and residence hall policies and procedures.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent people skills. Clean driving record and ability to drive is a must.



Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.


The successful candidate must pass a drug test and criminal background check prior to employment.

A list of qualified candidates is created from interviews that may be used for Emergency Hire individuals to similar positions within the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe for a period of six months.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Health Services has adopted a “Vaccination Policy” that requires ONLY Health Service employees to be “Fully Vaccinated” against the Coronavirus. The Vaccine requirement DOES NOT apply to positions that are not Health Services employees. Health Service Applicants are not required to disclose their vaccination status at the time of application; however, they must do so upon becoming the successful candidate. The successful applicant must submit their proof of vaccination status or they may submit a Medical Exemption form upon being notified that they are the successful candidate. At that point, the policy will apply to them as though they were already employed.
