About the Role:

SALARY LEVEL: PAY BAND 9 $82,481.00 – $122,092.03 ANNUALLY

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:


Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, Wholistic Health and Wellness Program the
Mental Health Therapist will promote healthy functioning clients and facilitate changes in
behaviour, feelings and attitudes needed in resolving emotional conflict. The candidate should
demonstrate a strong background in mental health counseling and a willingness to work closely
with the Program Manager and Mental Health Team in making diagnosis and the development of
treatment plans for the community of Akwesasne.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other equivalent Mental Health degree
and is in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association of
Ontario and is qualified to practice in the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec 

• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 

• Demonstrated experience in counseling and psychotherapy
• Experience working with children and families 

• Understanding of child development and family dynamics
• Knowledge of community resources related to the needs of children and families 

• Specialized course/certifications related to therapies to address needs of children & youth
considered an asset 

• Certificate in evidence-based practices such as CBT, TIR and EMDR is considered an
asset 

• Critical Incident Stress Management Training is considered an asset
